How we’re paid

Wolf Pine Capital is a fee-only financial advisor with flat-fee and asset-based options. You pay us directly, and we don’t earn commissions on anything we recommend.

You can hire us to manage your investments along with ongoing financial planning, or for financial planning only. Here’s what each costs and what it includes.

If you choose wealth management, you can pay a flat fee or 0.65% of assets. We’ll go over both on our first call.

How a flat fee is set

A flat fee is based on how complex your financial life is, and we set it together before we start.

It works the same way for wealth management and planning only. Once it’s set, your fee stays the same from year to year. It changes only if we both agree to a new fee in writing.

Closer to the starting fee

  • One person or a couple
  • Investments plus focused financial planning
  • A straightforward tax and estate picture
  • A handful of accounts

Higher as complexity grows

  • Multigenerational family planning
  • Equity compensation or concentrated stock
  • Business ownership or a planned sale
  • Trusts, gifting, and wealth-transfer planning
  • Many accounts, entities, or states

What’s included

Both include ongoing financial planning. Wealth management adds management of your investments.

How billing works

When you pay

At the end of each quarter, for the quarter just finished.

How you pay

Wealth management fees are deducted from your Schwab account. If you choose the flat fee, you can also choose to be invoiced. Planning-only fees are invoiced.

Changing your fee option

You can ask to switch between the asset-based fee and the flat fee. If we agree, we’ll update your agreement in writing.

If you leave

You can end the agreement at any time with 15 days’ written notice. You pay only through the final day, and nothing is billed in advance.

Other costs

Fund expenses and trading or custody costs are separate and are never paid to Wolf Pine Capital. We discuss them when they apply.

We also take on one-time projects, billed hourly or as a flat fee.

*Flat fees (called fixed fees in our Form ADV) generally start at the amounts shown and are set by the scope of your planning. Fees are agreed in writing and described in full in our Form ADV Part 2A. The $2 million minimum applies to the asset-based fee option.
